Self-catering rentals in Moraira allow you to explore this part of the Costa Blanca, and perhaps even tempt you to take a little trip inland to discover the village of Teulada.

Why You Should Consider a Self -Catering Holiday in Moraira

Moraira was originally a small fishing village on the Costa Blanca in Spain, but quickly became a popular holiday resort. Many of the villas and apartments in the local area are modern and well equipped. You will find that some of the locals call Moraira the Puerto Banus of the north. It may have a lovely marina to enjoy in the evening, however, the area is family friendly and benefits from two beautiful beaches. As far as holiday lettings in Spain go, this is just a great area to holiday in.

The beach of El Portet is located slightly out from the main town, is perhaps the most family friendly beach. It is shallow, and at the same time, it gives you the impression you may have been transported to the Caribbean by mistake. It is surrounded by local bars, and has a designated parking area. The beach in the town in Moraira tends to get busy, but is an ideal choice if you are staying in an apartment in Moraira.

Best Things to See or Do in Moraira

Although shopping in some of the boutiques in Moraira may be your evening activity, there are plenty of day time activities to keep you occupied. La Cala is a small rocky beach cove, and is famous for its crystal clear waters. Unlike some of the other coves in the area, it has a sandy bottom and is rather shallow. More than anything, it is a peaceful place to visit, and you may want to enjoy a sunset or morning swim. It is also the ideal place to come to do a bit of snorkeling.

Scuba diving is a popular activity along the shoreline of Moraira, and there are various dive centers along the coast. You can dive of a unique rock formation called the Penon de Ifach, and a dive here, will give you a chance to spot Moray eels, and other local species.

A bit outside of Moraira, you will find the local golf course called Club Golf Ifach. This 9 hole golf course, is set in the most beautiful location, and looks out over the sea. You will be sharing your round of golf with cheeky squirrels and local bird life. This is perhaps your chance to spot the rare and endangered Hoopoe bird which seems to enjoy to frequent the golf course as much as the golfers. The club house at the golf course serves meals, and there is also an excellent local restaurant by the swimming pool area.

A Little Further Inland

When you want to get away from the immediate coastal area, you should consider a visit to Teulada. It is only about a ten minute drive away from Moraira, but a world away from the main tourist area. This village was originally a walled citadel, but not much of the original walls remain. However, a walk through its old town, will give you a chance to get a feel for what it is like to live in Teulada. The local town hall arranges guided walks in English during the summer time which gives you a chance to get to know Teulada and its two churches better.

Teulada is also a good place to visit if you would like to enjoy some genuine Spanish ambience when it comes to dining out. In the main square, you will find the oddly named Las Vegas bar, and a dining experience here is second to none. You sit out in the square and watch Spanish village life go past. Another excellent dining option in Teulada is Casa Edy which is located on the main road. The restaurant has a lovely garden terrace, and serves three course meals with wine. It gets very busy, so it could be good idea to book the day before.
